Hello David! Please introduce yourself briefly to our audience!
My name is David Bonev – banker, serial entrepreneur, and public speaker advocating for crypto and blockchain technologies. I am also a Co-founder & CFO of CURES Token, the innovative blockchain-based healthcare platform, and one of the founders of BoneX, the Bulgarian crypto exchange that currently allows the most reasonable prices on the market.
Why did you decide to join the speaker’s line-up of LibertyBits conference?
Initially, I saw it as an opportunity to exchange thoughts and connect with like-minded individuals who don’t support the centralization (in all its shapes).
Moreover, by gathering people with solid know-how about the industry, I believe the LibertyBits conference has a crucial role in teaching the broad audience what the blockchain technology is really about and what valuable benefits it brings to us.
What is your understanding of “liberty” (freedom) and what are the most underestimated threats to our modern society?
Freedom is a multi-layered lust – to finally express our thoughts without being censored, to earn total economic freedom, to work from every corner of the world, to control our intellectual properties and far beyond. The total liberty will come when all those layers are present and, in my opinion, the decentralization through blockchain is what can help us get it. When it comes to the most underestimated threats to our modern society (the second part of the question), this is the need to protect personal data – our most valuable asset, and the most powerful “weapon” of the corporations, governments, and other central entities.
What is the most fascinating or inspiring thing about blockchain for you?
For me, blockchain is the most promising tool that would bring the well-deserved decentralization to the people. And the decentralization itself is all about total freedom, flexibility, and smart choices. What else we could dream of in the future?
What could be the biggest benefit of blockchain technology for us as a society?
Greater transparency, enhanced security, improved traceability, increased efficiency and speed of transactions, reduced costs… these are all equally important benefits of the blockchain technology.
However, the greatest perk of blockchain for our society, in general, is the paradigm shift of how we organize our relations and to finally end the “zero-sum game”. So basically, the power is taken off the centralized empires and governmental organizations and brought back in people’s hands.
And by “power”, I mean decisions on how the traditional business models work.
What are your expectations from the conference?
My own expectations are to stimulate the growth of the community of canny people who believe in the potential of blockchain and other disruptive technologies which have the true dynamism to transform our lives for good.
