Speaker’s Showcase: 6 Q&A with Evgeniya Gancheva

Next in scope, we have got for you a very interesting combination between Blockchain and… Law. Yes, that’s right. To some of you, the correlation might be obvious enough and getting more apparent with every single day. To others, it might still sound like an odd combination. Whatever the case, #LibertyBits2018 gives you the chance not only to align with the latest blockchain trends but also understand how they are related to legal matters. Actually, we have got two #blockchain + #law speakers on board: Evgeniya Gancheva and Vassil Kostov. Ladies first, needless to say.

Evgeniya Gancheva is the founder of 1Legal.Net. She describes herself as an Internet Law explorer & practitioner, blockchain lawyer, IP protection strategist, web enthusiast, inspired speaker, blogger maniac, life hacker, and an incurable optimist. She truly believes that to be a nerd today is the lesser evil than to be a technophobe.

“Soon enough it will be safe to say that there aren’t any industries left in the world of business and science that haven’t been influenced in any way by blockchain technology. Same applies to the area of Law.” These words belong to Jenny and she is willing to tell us so much more about her favorite topics.

WHO ARE YOU?

I am Evgeniya Gancheva or just Jenny. I’m a creative legal explorer, looking for conventional solutions for unconventional legal issues. I hate the words like “impossible” and adore all synonyms of “innovative”. Dedication: Blockchain Lawyer.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO JOIN THE SPEAKERS’ LIST OF LIBERTYBITS CONFERENCE?

Sharing knowledge becomes a global value in the new world. The LibertyBits conference has a great potential to be a venue of sharing new ideas in an atmosphere of a growing openness toward an approaching shift in thinking. To grow, blockchain needed representation and more and more voices promoting crypto and blockchain technology. No doubt at all, blockchain could change not just the financial-services industry but also on almost every aspect of society. How? Come and listen to the speakers at Liberty Bits.

WHAT IS YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF “LIBERTY” (FREEDOM) AND WHAT ARE THE MOST UNDERESTIMATED THREATS TO OUR MODERN SOCIETY?

“Liberty” is a synonym of an overall sense of freedom and independence. The word is opposite of a “monopoly”, a “dependence”, “injustice” etc. For me, “Liberty” means a free choice for everything in any possible aspect of our life. Blockchain could help us to reinvent the feeling of freedom again.

WHAT IS THE FASCINATING (MOST INSPIRING) THING ABOUT BLOCKCHAIN FOR YOU?

When I discovered what blockchain is, I was amazed at the brilliance of the technology. And then I thought “This is so ingenious, beyond the human abilities. Maybe the aliens had given us this technology.” This is a joke, of course.

WHAT COULD BE THE BIGGEST BENEFIT FROM THE BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY FOR US AS A SOCIETY?

The potential of blockchain is enormous. Practically, the technology could benefit any sector of the industry. But, the most valuable is the transparency, the capacity to resolve the “trust crisis” and help in preventing fraud and corruption.

WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR THE CONFERENCE?

It’s exciting to hear the new voices of the blockchain economy. The participants will have the chance to explore new ideas and bring their own passions into discussion and conversations on interesting topics.

Many thanks, Jenny! So: “Blockchain + Law = ?” No, you did not miss anything at school. This is new to all of us. If you are curious to know the answer, as much as we are, join us at #LibertyBits2018 on 24th April 2018 at Sofia Tech Park so we can find out together.
