Speaker’s Showcase: 6 Q&A with Svetlin Nakov

We have a real national hero and an influencer for you today and we are so proud to have him among our speakers! Mr. Svetlin Nakov is a person, who spend the last 15 years spreading his knowledge with the future stars in the software engineering sphere. Once again, let’s have a round of applause for the software wizard – Mr. Nakov!

Who are you?

I am a well-known software engineer, trainer and blockchain expert, the leading technical person behind the largest software engineering training center in Eastern Europe – the Software University (https://softuni.bg). For the last 10-15 years, I have trained ten of thousands of software engineers and technical experts in several organizations. Learn more about me at my personal site: https://www.nakov.com/about/

Why did you decide to join the speaker’s list of LibertyBits conference?

I believe the blockchain industry, the crypto-economies and the trend towards decentralization will grow 50-100 times in the next few years and will change forever many industries. I am happy to be a part of this process by teaching the blockchain software engineers of the future. I like to share my knowledge and experience, so I am happy to speak at conferences and other events.

What is your understanding of “liberty” (freedom) and what are the most underestimated threats to our modern society?

The battle for freedom eternal. In the computer world, it has many manifestations of the battle of the closed vs open source, the battle of closed vs open data sets, the battle of closed vs closed hardware designs, etc. In the last few years, the next big battle comes into our world: centralized vs decentralized organizations, like the decentralized money system vs centralized fiat money. This will be big, game-changing, and is a challenge for the technologies, economics, and politics.

What is the fascinating (the most inspiring) thing about blockchain for you?

The most inspirational with the blockchain is the ability to build decentralized organizations: organizations that have decentralized governance, hold their data public, open and decentralized, execute its processes public, open and decentralized on a distributed ledger platform. I believe this trend will grow in the next few years and will change our world. For example, imagine a decentralized taxi booking platform (decentralized Uber): it will connect drivers with passengers on the blockchain, with no commissions, with no way to stop it, with no owner, just a software, algorithms and decentralized apps. This is really something new to our world.

What could be the biggest benefit from the blockchain technology for us as a society?

The biggest benefit for the society from the blockchain technology will be the ability to decentralize traditional processes, industries, and economic sectors in order to provide more fair, public, open and transparent execution, where middlemen and central authorities will be replaced with democratic decentralized organizations.

What are your expectations for the conference?

I believe a lot of open-minded, young people will come, will share knowledge and ideas and will get motivated to contribute further to the growing liberty-oriented and blockchain-powered society which is emerging around the globe. Thank you hundred times, Svetlin! We appreciate your commitment to our local software development community and to us, as the first speaker, who has confirmed his attendance at our conference! May the power of the code be always at your side!
