Hey guys! There are only 5 weeks left to our one-of-a-kind freedom and tech #LibertyBits2018 conference. We hope that you are excited as much as we are and therefore we are opening this week with pretty familiar face in the Bulgarian blockchain/crypto scene. Give it up for the blockchain master, Mr. Vlad Dramaliev.
Hi, Vlad! You were one of the first supporters of this crazy idea – the LibertyBits conference, who has committed to attend as a speaker and we really appreciate your contribution. So, for the sake of these 37 people in Sofia, who still don’t know you, would you please introduce your self with a few words?
I am managing the marketing and community efforts of æternity, a next-generation public blockchain platform for decentralized applications. I am also the founder and director of the BitHope Foundation, owner of BitHope.org, CoinFixer.com and CryptoCrowd.org websites. I am the co-founder of Sofia Crypto Meetup, the largest monthly blockchain event in Bulgaria, co-founder, and member of the managing board of the Bulgarian Bitcoin Association, member of MENSA, an early adopter of technology and a speaker in the sphere of cryptocurrencies/blockchain.
Why did you decide to join the speaker’s list of LibertyBits conference?
I believe the conference has the right message. I am confident that decentralized technology will be instrumental in the process of redefining what freedom means in the digital age.
What is your understanding of “liberty” (freedom) and what are the most underestimated threats to our modern society?
The technology evolution has led us to a point where privacy and freedom online are becoming close to non-existent. Not only our social interactions are subject to scrutiny. Our economic value transactions have been closely monitored for so long that the large part of our global society is becoming convinced that that is how things should be. I am not convinced that putting our trust in small groups of people and vesting enormous power and influence in their hands, while at the same time expecting them to defend our interests is the best approach to governance in the high tech times we live in. We must have an alternative. No matter how imperfect it seems currently, future generations will thank us for nurturing it.
What is the fascinating (the most inspiring) thing about blockchain for you?
I believe that public blockchain technology enables essential research in the process of organizing large groups of people with diverging backgrounds, culture, and economic status. I am confident that if blockchain projects succeed in identifying a way to align the incentives of many different people who don’t trust one another, new, more egalitarian forms of societal organization will ensue. Such changes have already happened in history and there must be no doubt that they will happen again. I am confident that public blockchain technology will be the catalyst for the next one.
What could be the biggest benefit from the blockchain technology for us as a society?
Removal of a number of third parties in numerous different types of interactions between peers (peers = users, people, companies, etc.). A new way of thinking about money, assets, the functioning of the economy and the role of public institutions.
What are your expectations fоr the conference?
I would like to help people realize that blockchain technology is not only about profits. However, it is through financial gain, or the strive for financial gain, that incentives could be aligned efficiently. Cryptocurrencies are not simply FinTech. They create soft power in the hands of the masses. They are the expression of a philosophy about how we can evolve as a species and create a more efficient global society. Thank you so much, Vlad! That is exactly why we decided to make such a conference. We are glad you will be there and are so devoted to this cause, along with the others stars, who will shine from our stage! May the hashrate be with you and see you soon!
